Clearance Haul

image

Smaller drugstores often don’t have room to display large ranges of products so after new product launches they are left with stuff to sell off on clearance. That’s how I managed to grab this lot for a pound a piece! There’s three Max Factor colour elixers, two Barry M polishes and two nails inc polishes!

Max Factor Masterpiece Transform Mascara

image

This is a weird one. This mascara has one of the skinniest brushes I’ve ever seen with teeny tiny bristles on it. I was sceptical. How could this end with anything other than clumpy terrible lashes?

As you can see, my lashes didn’t turn out clumpy, though I expect this will happen quite quickly when the mascara starts to dry out. Right now though I’m enjoying some fab lash separation and length.

Bed Time Tag!

Winters are for staying in and snuggling! I wish I could hibernate! So, without further ado, here comes the bed time tag!

1. What are you favourite pajamas?
I bought them from Primark a few weeks ago. Soft dark grey jersey. Long trousers, vest top and matching light cardigan style dressing gown. They’re so comfy I don’t want to take them off!

2. Current bedtime reading?
Recently I’ve been so tired I’ve just been falling straight asleep. I’ve got The Cuckoos Calling by my bed, and it’s almost finished so hopefully I’ll finish it soon.

3. What is on your bedside table?
A lamp, some chocolate biscuits and my phone charger.

4. Favourite sleepy scent?
I’ve got a pillow spray that I haven’t used yet. I’ll probably give it a go next time El is away. It’s hard to sleep when he’s not next to me.

5. What is your usual bedtime & wakeup time?
About 11-12 pm bedtime, and 7-8 am wake up naturally, but when I do early shifts I have to get up at 5.30am!

6. Top 3 bedtime products?
Soap & Glory Beauty Sleep Accelerator (for when I’m dry), No7 Oily Skin Night Cream (for when I’m oily) and Carmex lip balm (wake up with kissable lips)

7. Your most common sleeping position?
On my side with my knees curled inwards.

8. Any strange bed time routines?
Sometimes I can’t sleep when I’m bored, so I have to put a podcast on, to listen to until I fall asleep.

9. Are you big spoon or little spoon?
We vary. We’re quite fidgety sleepers, so we tend to swap and change positions through the night.

How much water??

image

One of the best beauty tips I can give you is to drink plenty of water. Even the best moisturiser won’t hydrate your skin from within. Your body is most dehydrated first thing in the morning so keep a glass by your bedside to glug first thing in the morning. I also keep a glass on my dressing table and sip as I put my makeup on. A few weeks ago I bought this big purple sports bottle from Sainsbury’s to take to work. I put some cordial in at home and then fill with tap water when I get to work. Great tasting juice without having to carry a heavy bottle through town.

Empty: Aussie Beach Mate Shampoo & Conditioner

image

I was sent these bottles to test and unfortunately they didn’t get to go anywhere near a beach. They did however do a great job on my “morning after” hair. They really get hair feeling properly clean, cutting through all the hairspray, salt spray and other gunk I slather on my hair before a night out. The conditioner is a funky gel like texture that rejuvenates hair without leaving it feeling it weighed down. I would definitely purchase these again especially for the party season.

Pre-Christmas Dinner Make-up

image

Today I’m making dinner for my family to thank them for having us over Christmas. I’m looking a bit tired after a heavy weekend so I’ve gone for a full coverage foundation (No7 Beautifully Matte in Calico) and some light contour and blush (Sleek Face Pallette in Light). I’ve put the focus on eyes with my Naked Basics Pallette and Eyeko liquid liner in navy. Finally a slick of Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker in Nudist.

Bonus Pic: I rarely take my makeup pictures with my glasses, but this is what I will really look like when I head out the door.

Empty: Caudalie Nourishing Body Lotion

image

I’m so sad that this is empty. I really enjoyed slathering this on after my shower. It has a beautiful light fragrance and sinks in really quickly. I just managed to squeeze 4 uses out of this 50ml bottle. Unfortunately the full size is £20 for 250ml. I estimate this would last me perhaps 6 weeks and I just don’t have that kind of cash to splash on body lotion. Fortunately I’m all stocked up with Soap & Glory again!

Soap & Glory Haulin’

image

I set the alarm for 4am last Friday to nab two of these fab Soap & Glory gift sets, one for me and one for my mum. I even saved up advantage card points to treat myself to one. I’m loving the classic Righteous Butter and the Heel Genius cream (I’ve two already because I hate to run out!). I’m also looking forward to the Orangeasm body wash because I’ve heard such good things about it! I’m a little disappointed by the face wipes instead of Peaches and Clean this year, but they are probably going to come in handy anyway!

Another brow gel? Maybe it’s Maybelline

image

It seems like every brand is bringing out its own brow gel this season and Maybelline is no exception. I have the shade Dark Blond. I expected this to be like any other brow gel on the market but this one has this weird round brush shape. I found this grabbed on to all the tiny hairs around my eyebrows and the finished look was less Cara Delevingne, more Teen Wolf. I’d say give this a try if you really have no eyebrows, but I’ll be sticking to my favourite from Model Co.
